Coorg (Kodagu) is about 260 km from Bangalore and a six-hour drive, mostly via Mysore and then the ghat section up to Madikeri. A two-night stay is the sweet spot — one day for the coffee estates and Abbey Falls, one for Dubare Elephant Camp and a Mandalpatti or Raja's Seat sunset.

The ghat stretch rewards a capable vehicle. For a family of four to six we recommend an SUV or Innova for the ground clearance and comfort; for a group of ten-plus, a 16-seater Tempo Traveller or a Force Urbania handles the climbs smoothly with full AC. Book a round trip with the same driver waiting so you don't re-explain the plan each day.

Plan overnight halts in and around Madikeri or Kushalnagar. Outstation fares are per-km for the total round-trip distance plus driver bata, with toll and parking at actuals — ask for a flat day package if you'd prefer not to track kilometres.
